A Visit to Bluebird Greenhouse by Horticulture Interns

In the summer of 2004 we received a call from a group of international horticultural students who had a map, a list of horticultural sites in North Carolina and MapQuest directions to those sites. These guys were interns at a large commercial greenhouse in Charlotte, NC and drove 140 miles North to visit us. Visiting Bluebird Greenhouses is always a fun outing - we welcome visitors (of course if you bring your checkbook or credit card we really welcome you).
Posing in the main aisle at Bluebird Greenhouse are from left to right: Wenxiam Shang from Shanghai, China Achim Karph from Germany, Tom Glembocki and Libbie Glembocki from Bluebird Greenhouse, Daniel Hesse from Brazil, and Mohammad Apriza Suska from Indonesia.
Still in the main aisle at Bluebird Greenhouse, the student interns chat with Libbie.
Libbie demonstrates how baby violets are separated when ready to move out of the 10x20 propagation trays.
Desiree plants the newly separated baby violets.
The last step is watering the baby plants. Seen here are the baby violets in the foreground. Jennifer waters the companion plants as well.
After a half day tour at Bluebird Greenhouse, it's time to move onto the next destination.
A few months later it was time for Mohammad to return home to Indochina. He brought his personal plant collection to Bluebird Greenhouse for a North Carolina Dept of Agriculture inspection. The inspection by an official of the Dept of Agriculture certifies that soil and roots were removed and that the plants appear healthy and pest free. This allows him to bring the plants through customs on his journey flying home to Indochina. Libbie and Mohammad look over the collection he obtained while studying in the US.
Mohammad strips the soil and roots from his violets for inspection.
